A Barrow councillor has commended a Dalton pub landlord for his impressive charity work. Dalton South councillor, Steve Nott, praised Paul Kell, landlord at the Newton Arms, after donating £700 to Furness Homeless Support Group. Mr Kell had raised the money by holding a birthday fundraiser and has revealed he is delighted with the amount of donations. A cheque of £330 was paid to the charity on Monday, with £370 donated online. Cllr Nott has now highlighted Mr Kell s generosity. He said: “It really is a fantastic gesture from Paul Kell. It s been a tough year for all those in the pub trade and the Newton, when allowed to, has really tried to encourage the community to visit by holding various events and showcasing local bands as they always have.
