Friendship Circle members celebrate the end of a challenging year with good buddies and great music

Jewish Ledger Friendship Circle members celebrate the end of a challenging year with good ‘buddies’ and great music WEST HARTFORD – Six years ago Keighan Kosimoff became a member of Friendship Circle. A project of Chabad of Greater Hartford, Friendship Circle brings together young people with and without disabilities for a variety of Judaic and social programs. Its goal is make members aware of “the greatness in themselves and in others, empowering everyone to develop a more accommodating and welcoming Jewish community for all.”  Keighan, 14, who is autistic and has ADHD and learning disabilities, has always loved spending time with his Friendship Circle “buddies” on Sunday afternoons at the Mandell Jewish Community Center in West Hartford, just hanging out or playing with Legos. These “buddies” are some of the dedicated teenage volunteers from local high schools who have become close friends with their Friendship Circle pals.

For parents of middle & high school students Parents of middle school and high school school parents learn how to protect your children from the dangers of our digital world in this session, to be held Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m., that goes beyond the exploitative world of sexting and social media into darker and more concerning areas of the internet to which young people have free and easy access. Designed for parents and guardians who may not be particularly tech-savvy themselves, Lisa Good will discuss topics such as the dark web, online pornography, cyberbullying and more.
