Shellfish Growing Area News Today

A power failure that occurred early Sunday morning at a wastewater treatment facility in Fall River, Mass. was responsible for about 10 million gallons of partially treated wastewater and stormwater being released into Mt. Hope Bay.

OLYMPIA  -- The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has completed the annual water quality evaluation of the state’s commercial shellfish growing areas. Unfortunately, high fecal bacteria levels will lead to harvest restrictions in four of Washington’s 115 shellfish growing areas.
