Columbus Primary School receives tablets from Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau and donor

(PHOTO: AJ CAMPBELL) NASSAU, BAHAMAS The Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau (RCSEN) recently partnered with a private sponsor to supply electronic tablets to Columbus Primary School, allowing more students to get online. RCSEN President Lionel Haven shared the challenges of learning caused by COVID-19. “Education has taken a big hit and both teachers and students are required to interact virtually,” he said. “For a great many students and families, this has been a difficult hurdle to overcome. A generous gift by Barbara van der Velde has allowed our club to facilitate the presentation of 50 devices for students for their use in furthering their education.”

(CFAL) donated 12 tablets to students at Columbus Primary School. The tablets were a part of a group of 29 devices collected by the prefects of St. Andrew’s School (St. Andrew’s) to assist students in-need with obtaining devices to prevent them from falling behind in their studies. This “continuous learning” drive was the brainchild of Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson, Head Girl at St. Andrew’s.
