After a quick comment from Wharton County’s Sheriff Shannon Srubar, commissioners approved a $8,440 department grant application looking to supplement its aging bullet proof vests.

Linda Drummond, who is OakBendâs Public Relations director, said personnel began administering the vaccine to its âfirst tierâ front âline staff and CEO Joe Freudenberger at 1 p.m. that day.
She said OakBend was scheduled to do 50 shots on the first day.

Wharton Journal-Spectator did not show if this meant only Fort Bend County or if Wharton County was included, since there is a campus in Wharton.
The Wharton County Commissioners Court will be having a swearing in ceremony of newly-elected officials on Friday, Jan. 1 beginning at 5 p.m. inside the Wharton County Annex Building.
According to the agenda, it reads that there may be âincidental discussion of county business.â However they will not be deliberating as a governing body of Wharton County. Among those who will be sworn in are Precinct 1 Commissioner Richard Zahn and Precinct 3 Commissioner Steven Goetsch. Goetsch won the Republican Primary in March and didnât have an opponent in the November General Election. Zahn had an opponent in both the Republican Primary and the General Election against a Democratic candidate.
