The Maine Art Gallery’s first show of the season offers a fine exhibition of 103 works by 33 very talented artists living in Midcoast Maine. Curators Jorge Pena and Colleen Kearney-Graffam asked the question, “What inspires you?” and the responses.

WISCASSET The Maine Art Gallery, at 15 Warren St., opened its doors to this year’s visitors May 15 with more than 100 guests attending events both inside the historic brick building and on the lawn outside, where refreshments were served under a tent.
For many attendees, it was the first time in over a year that they had socialized in such a large group.
Artists in the current Maine Art Gallery show were asked, “What inspires you?” Colleen Kearney-Graffam, standing by her painting, “Look Up,” says that it is the interconnectedness of life systems with the natural and perceived mythical worlds.

The Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset opened its doors to visitors this year on May 15 with over 100 guests attending the festive events both inside the historic brick building and on the lawn outside, where refreshments were served under a tent. For many attendees, it was the first time in over a year that they had socialized in such a large group, adding a special joyfulness to the gathering. A beautiful spring evening was an added plus.

A birdhouse decorated by Daisy Greene will be available to bid on during a silent auction at Maine Art Gallery on May 15.
An outdoor, opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 4 p.m. Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be in place, including the requirement of masks for all visitors unless eating, the use of hand sanitizer, and 6 feet of distance.

An exhibit by members of the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset marks the gallery’s opening for the first time in over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
An outdoor, opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 4 p.m. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines will be in place, which include requiring all visitors unless eating outside to be masked, use hand sanitizer and maintain six feet of distance. Rain date for the reception is Sunday, May 16. The show continues through June 5, Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
