Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot dead on the morning of July 8. Abe was taken to a hospital after the attack, where he died. Former PM Shinzo Abe was delivering a speech for the elections in Nara city at the time of the incident.
Shinzo Abe "was a great leader, a phenomenal individual and someone who believed in India-Japan friendship", Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled while offering tribute to Shinzo Abe.
PM Modi, who arrived here early in the morning, joined several global leaders to pay floral tribute to Abe who reshaped Japan s foreign policy, including setting out a bold vision for a quantum leap in ties with India.
