backed up by a senior republican source telling cnn their defense of the president seem to hinge on hearing him say the word house instead of hole. as in shit house countries but and not shit hole country. that s the basis for others going on tv this weekend and denying the whole thing. house instead of hole. that s where we are today. and on this holiday officially designated as a day of public service which the president affirmed on friday. how did the president honor dr. king? he got in a round of golf. it s the 95th day in his presidency spent at one of his golf sources. oth this president did no public service. he did, however, fire off a name-calling tweet related to all of this which we ll get to shortly.
one republican leaders don t like and one the president rejected. it is the only thing currently on the table . if there is no consideration, they may be willing to withhold their votes. there is more confusion than answers. that obviously leaves an lot of work in four days. christine and dave. phil, thank you. president trump accusing democratic senator dick durbin of distorting the comments he made to describe immigrants from africa. the president has a doozy of a nickname. senator dicky durbin. he added a y. he misrepresented the comments at the daca meeting. deals cannot get made without trust. that only makes sense if totally misrepresented means shithole and shit house are two different things.
some republicans at the meeting say they did not hear the president call them shit hole countries. they heard him say shit house not hole. house not hole. house not hole. this was senator durbin s response. i don t know that changing the word from hole to house changes the impact which this has. i stick with my original interpretation. i am stunned that this is their defense. no dienials that the presidet said he would rather have folks from norway than the whole/house nations in africa. which is why some is calling the words racist to begin with. the president seeing no problem on that front. i m not a racist. i am the least racist person you have ever interviewed. i m not a racist.
getting a long-term funding solution at the beginning of last week, i think it is impossible this week. republicans are saying they want to have a stop-gap measure here instead of trying to go for the full solution with daca. you know, as we heard during the introduction, chris coons and company are actively talking about pulling the shutdown lever. if they do that, this will desid define the year. you have voters who will remember the shutdown as they walk in that the ballot booth. who gets the blame? democrats gambling the republicans get the blame? republicans are in control of the house and senate and the white house. one theory from phil mattingly they may put a long-term funding for c.h.i.p. to the short-term extension. that would be a smart play and one difficult to oppose for democrats. absolutely.
