The high court has imposed a cost of ₹1 lakh on the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for illegally allotting an MD seat in respiratory medicine. The court has directed KEA to allot the seat to the petitioner and issue necessary orders within two weeks.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice PS Dinesh Kumar and Justice TG Shivashankare Gowda noted that while many choose to park their vehicles on footpaths, the sight of junk vehicles being left on the pathways to permanently tarnish them is also not an uncommon sight.
