Every small town has a story and this is the story of St. Wendel. St. Wendel is an unincorporated town located north of St. Joseph, Avon and Holdingford in St. Wendel township in Stearns County. The community is located along Stearns County Road 4 and 130th Avenue.

WJON's Small Town series takes us this time to Gilman, Minnesota. Gilman is a town of 224 people located north of Foley where Highway 25 and County Road 3 intersect in Benton County.

Increased interest rates, inflation and an increase in property taxes are all playing a role in home sales in Central Minnesota. Realtor Craig Erlichman from Premier Real Estate Services joined me on WJON.

Earlier this month Sartell opened their pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON. He says he's received great feedback from residents and many have incorporated it on their daily walk or run.

Maintenance work is underway on some St. Cloud area elementary schools. St. Cloud School Superintendent Laurie Putnam joined me on WJON. She indicated that Oak Hill and Discovery Elementary Schools are undergoing HVAC work and this will continue for the next month.

15 miles of road resurfacing projects are underway in the city of St. Cloud. Tracy Hodel is the Public Services Director in St. Cloud. She indicates these projects have begun and the hot/dry weather is a benefit to completing these.

A way to improve traffic congestion could be coming to the Highway 15 and 23 interchange in St. Cloud. Stearns County Commissioner Joe Perske, who is also on the the highway 23 coalition, explained they are looking at improving the interchange by adding what he calls an enhanced right lane.

Cold Spring still has a small town feel and a strong sense of pride despite its growth over the years. Cold Spring is a city in Central Minnesota with a population of 4,025 located southwest of St. Cloud in Stearns County.
