The government of Kerala has declared two days of holiday on 21 & 22 April in connection with Eid ul Fitr. The crescent or new moon was not sighted anywhere in the state on Thursday hence Eid ul Fitr is not celebrated on Friday.

The date of Eid-Al-Fitr changes each year

The crescent moon for the Islamic month of Shawwal was sighted on Thursday evening, therefore clerics across the country announced that the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on April 22.
