UPDATE: 1:01PM: The Holiday Fire burning southeast of Gardnerville amidst burn scars of previous fires in the Preacher Mine area is now about 55 acres in size and moving slowly through grass, pinion and juniper, Douglas County has said in a press release Friday. Access is difficult and resource availability is a challenge, the county said.
UPDATE 7:15PM: All evacuations have been lifted in the Voltaire Canyon Fire, said Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon. Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center estimates the fire to be around 150 acres.
Thunderstorms are moving into the Carson City region, prompting an alert from the National Weather Service in Reno. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton and Virginia City. Firefighters have also responded to reports of lightning strikes seen in areas south and east of Carson City.
11:15 update: It has been confirmed that two structures have burned, a BLM-owned structure and a private outbuilding.
