Sierra Watercolor Society's "A Celebration of Color" opened this week in the museum's art gallery, featuring dozens of new watercolor paintings from regional artists.
Coleen Reynolds, an artist and resident of Carson City won the Best of Theme award in the extraordinarily competitive February 2021 Memberâs exhibition âNew Beginningsâ held virtually in February, on The San Diego Watercolor Society website, www.sdws.org.
Reynoldâs painting entitled âMom Trainâ was selected by juror Julie Davis for this honor, out of more than 300 entries.
âI really loved this piece. It looks to be from a very old family photo used as reference. The treatment of the background spaces was great. Great use of the text elements to draw the viewerâs eye in; the vertical columns were great additions,â Davis said of the painting.
