A residential and commercial development just south of Prince Albert will incorporate a historical landmark into its design.
Signature Development Corporation owns the land on the east side of the Highway 2 and Highway 11 corridor just south of Prince Albert near Flaman’s. Work is underway for a multi-phase project set to include commercial and residential development.
The first phase involves building a service road that runs parallel to the highway. It will run from the north and connect with where the RM has land it is hoping to develop into a future shop.

A developer who owns property north of the Indoor Recreation Centre site says he’s disappointed with city council’s decision to purchase seven acres of land from Signature Developments to build a parking lot, instead of considering his own.
Reg Fontaine, the president and owner of Fontaine Holdings Company Ltd., spoke to council on May 10 asking them to reconsider an offer to purchase his property for the parking lot instead. Fontaine originally had a non-binding agreement with the City to sell 7.78 acres of land north of the site for $2-million. The deal fell through after the City realized it would need to pay additional costs to remove piles of dirt, demolish buildings, and take out an underground septic tank.

Prince Albert City Council will receive reports from Administration on Monday concerning the development of the Arena and Aquatics Recreation Centre. The reports recommend the approval of the Architects for the detailed design of the large 4500 seat Arena Event Centre and the purchase of another seven acres of land for additional parking on the site.
The conceptual design for the twin arenas and aquatics facilities was approved by City Council in March. Approval of the recommendations Monday will allow the project to proceed alongside the development of the twin arenas and aquatics project.

Prince Albert City Council will vote on a plan to purchase another seven acres of land near the new Indoor Arena and Aquatics Recreation Centre when they meet for Monday’s regular council meeting
If approved, the City would pay $2.537-million to Signature Development Corp. for the property. That works out to around $362,500/acre. The City plans to develop a parking area with stalls for at least 1,214 vehicles for the proposed 4,500 seat Arena and Event Centre.
