Although he wasn’t due to arrive until January 21, Arin Aswin Star wanted to see what Christmas was all about and so, in the early hours of December 25, he unexpectedly arrived, taking everyone, including parents Inisha and Aswin, by surprise.

Screen Wexford celebrates its new voices as call goes out for next generation of filmmakers

As the winners of its 2022 New Voices competition were celebrated in a special movie premiere night at the Arts Centre, Screen Wexford has already begun its search for the next generation of local up-and-coming filmmakers. The works of Leah O’Toole, Joseph Orr, and Andrew and Shane Kenny, were screened at the Arts Centre after each received a bursary to make their selected films from Screen Wexford and the arts department of Wexford County Council (WCC).

Meet the Wexford family saving lives at sea for 130 years

Having served the people of Rosslare over the course of three centuries and been involved in some of the most difficult and dangerous rescues in the history of Co Wexford, the Wickham family have been recognised for their efforts by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Beginning with Thomas Wickham in the late 1800s, five generations of the family have served in various roles with the RNLI, with lifeboat volunteer Sean Cullen (18) the latest to continue this proud tradition.

Christmas cheer in Wexford as Santa brings goodwill to all at Cois Barry celebrations

Children from Rosslare Strand and its surrounding areas were treated to a special visit from Santa last week as the big man came to Cois Barry Community House. Receiving a special escort from the local coastguard, Santa arrived with lights flashing and sirens blaring as more than 100 little ones eagerly waited for the chance to prove they’d been nice throughout 2023.

Wexford students to take part in safety initiative aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities

Over two thousand students from 24 secondary schools across Co Wexford will take part in a road safety initiative specifically designed to educate teenagers in the coming weeks. The Just 1 Life programme, which is run by the Wexford Rotary club in partnership with Wexford County Council (WCC), is aimed at increasing road safety awareness among young people and reducing road traffic deaths.
