Popular Wexford author Imelda Carroll launches first collection of short stories

Local writer Imelda Carroll is to have her first collection of short stories published by Red Books Press. Making Waves contains 13 stories including The Elephant in the Room, which was short listed for the William Trevor Short Story Competition in 2008, The Frost, which came second in the WexWorlds Fantasy Festival Short Story Competition in 2015, and The Vigil, which won the inaugural Write by the Sea Short Story Competition in 2016.

Wexford Order of Malta provides CPR training to 1000 people for Restart a Heart day

The Wexford Unit of the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps has held a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) education display in Tesco, Distillery Road, to coincide with Restart a Heart Day which took place on October 16. In addition, volunteers visited secondary schools across the county to provide basic life saving skills and CPR training to students in the week leading up to the event.

Wexford Dip in the Nip passes €250,000 in funds raised for Hope Cancer Support Centre

After what was the most successful event in its history, the Wexford Dip in the Nip has officially passed the €250,000 mark in terms of money raised. Although donations continue to flood in, organiser Eileen Rowe said that the current figure for this year’s event was €40,160 which brings the total amount over the nine years to €255,111.

The Talbot Hotel in Wexford town has taken home four awards from the prestigious Irish Hotel Awards which took place at the Radisson Blu in Sligo last week. Over 500 guests from across the hospitality industry gathered to celebrate the industry's best performers and they saw the Talbot win both the Coastal Escape of the Year 2023 and 'Brand Hotel of the Year 2023.

Wexford father and daughter celebrate gift of life at organ donor service in Mullingar

A father and daughter from Rosslare have celebrated the gift of life at a service in Mullingar which honoured organ donors from across Ireland. In December of last year Trish Boyce donated a kidney to her dad John after he was diagnosed with renal failure in 2017.
