A roofer who killed a popular market trader and family man with a single blow to the head has been sent to prison for manslaughter.

Paul Lyal-Venables, 35, hit Luke Pocock causing him to fall and sustain a substantial head injury in July last year. Mr Pocock was taken to hospital but sadly died less than a month later.

The pensioner had been planning to give the money to his family at Christmas.

The work was described as “unacceptably poor” and sometimes didn’t even happen at all.

He also committed a string of other offences that he was sentenced for.
