SIR – I had an identical experience to Philip Johnston (Comment, November 3) last July, while driving on the M1 north of Leicester Forest.

SIR – The NHS wants us to use 111 rather than 999.

SIR – It is likely that the other members of the European Union, and the European Court of Justice, will back France in its fishing row with Britain (“EU chief accuses UK of seeking Brexit clash”, report, November 1).
