Happy Camp residents sue PacifiCorp, allege the utility's negligence cause Slater Fire

Happy Camp residents sue PacifiCorp, allege the utility s negligence cause Slater Fire Mount Shasta Herald The family of a person killed in the Slater Fire and several homeowners who lost their homes in the blaze have filed a lawsuit alleging that the fire was caused by PacifiCorp’s negligence. The lawsuit alleges that the Slater Fire started when PacifiCorp’s power lines came into contact with a nearby tree, according to a press release from Singleton Schreiber McKenzie and Scott, the law firm representing the fire victims. “Despite a National Weather Service red-flag warning, and being on notice that conditions were extremely dangerous, PacifiCorp negligently failed to de-energize its power lines in the area,” the release states. “As a result, PacifiCorp’s power lines came into contact with nearby trees, which PacifiCorp had failed to properly trim, igniting the deadly fire.”

Law Firm Seeks Clients to Sue SoCal Edison Over Silverado Fire

Law Firm Seeks Clients to Sue SoCal Edison Over Silverado Fire A San Diego law firm is trying to drum up clients to sue Southern California Edison (SCE) over damages resulting from the Silverado Fire in Orange and San Bernardino counties, claiming the utility company has admitted its own responsibility for the fire starting. But the law firm may be overplaying its hand, says SCE spokesperson Chris Abel. Abel told The Epoch Times an SCE letter sent to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has gotten media attention, but that report was standard procedure and reflects SCE’s diligence to identify any potential causes of the fire, not an admission of fault.

ICE Oct 22, 2020 A federal judge has ordered the release of some detainees at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in California following a COVID-19 outbreak at the facility and an ACLU lawsuit saying they were not being protected from the coronavirus.
