So far, a total of 48 nominations were received for all the eight Assembly constituencies A total of 13 nominees filed their nomination papers to contest in the Assembly constituencies in the district here on Tuesday.
Nominations filed in each constituency are Erode (East) – two, Modakkurichi – two, Perundurai – one, Bhavani – six, Anthiyur – one and Gobichettipalayam – one. No nominations were received for Erode (West) and Bhavanisagar (Reserved) constituencies on Tuesday. So far, a total of 48 nominations were received for all the eight Assembly constituencies in the district.

‘There has to be a gap of 28 to 45 days between the two doses’
Health workers were administered the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at health facilities here on Saturday.
According to Health Department officials, 16, 617 doses of Covishield vaccines were administered to health workers and other frontline workers during the first phase in the district.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors’ Association (TNGDA) has recommended that doctors take the Covid-19 vaccine, particularly Covishield, as the results of the Phase 3 trials of Covaxin are not yet out. The recommendation was made after consulting three specialists, as TNGDA members had expressed concern over the vaccine. The association submitted its recommendation to the State Executive Committee on Thursday.

Healthcare and frontline workers to be vaccinated in the first phase
The administration of COVID-19 vaccines to healthcare workers was launched in Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts on Saturday.
Minister for Social Welfare V. Saroja and District Collector K.Megraj started the vaccination drive at the Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital.
The drive was also launched at Rasipuram and Tiruchengode government hospitals.
