Outreach teams to monitor the homeless. Political reporter dave evans is at city hall. Reporter every night there are 50,000 men, women and children living in new york city shelters. The mayor is not talking so much about them but the 3 to 4,000 people that live on the street and panhandle. The experts say there are probably more than that but they praised the mayor for finally addressing the problem. The homeless situation in new york has gone from bad to worse this year. In the last few weeks police dismantled about 30 homeless encampments. He is spending millions on Homeless Housing with on Site Social Services and he is doing something about the street homeless and aggressive panhandling.
