COVID-19 VACCINES ARRIVE IN DOMINICA   An airplane carrying seventy thousand (70,000) doses of the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine landed in Dominica at approximately 7:35 pm on Tuesday, February 9 2021 as Dominica continues its fight against the covid-19 virus. Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, along with the Acting Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Hon. Kent Edwards, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Darroux and other Members of Cabinet welcomed 70,000 doses of the AstraZenca covid-19 vaccine to Dominica at the Douglas Charles Airport. This vaccine is a grant donation from the Government of India and will assist the Government of Dominica in the roll out of its vaccination programme.

REHABILITATION WORK ON THE VIP AREA AT THE DOUGLAS CHARLES AIRPORT IS ONGOING REHABILITATION WORK ON THE VIP AREA AT THE DOUGLAS CHARLES AIRPORT IS ONGOING The V.I.P facility at the Douglas Charles airport is being rehabilitated at an estimated cost of 1.6 million E.C dollars.   The lounge, when completed is expected to create a luxurious atmosphere for visitors and citizens. The new lounge is also a way to cater to the visitors attracted to the new five star resorts on island. “We have made tremendous investments in the hotel sector in Dominica, and you would have seen that we now have 5-star resorts on island like the Kempinski, Jungle Bay and Secret Bay. Consequently, we are attracting a new niche of visitors to Dominica who would require luxurious service, and that has been a focus of the ministry to provide service to that niche market,” stated Minister for Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, Honourable Denise Charles.

NEW DAPD FACILITY PROGRESSING SMOOTHLY NEW DAPD FACILITY PROGRESSING SMOOTHLY Construction of a new facility for the Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities is progressing steadily. The contract for this new, modern facility was signed in September 2020 under the Basic Needs Trust Fund ninth program at a cost of nine hundred thousand dollars, with construction starting soon after. The project falls under the Article 9 of the UN Convention on the rights of People with Disabilities. Minister with responsibility for Dominicans with Disabilities, Honourable Dr. Adis King stated that the Labour Party Government is committed towards the advancement of person living with disabilities.
