After many years of encouraging winter tourism in northern Cape Breton, operators say they're finally seeing results, with an increasing number of people from off-island travelling north of Smokey in search of snow.

One of the two women saved from a snowshoe trail in northern Cape Breton over the weekend is applauding her rescuers, but raising concerns about the lack of signage in the area.

Some establishments around Ingonish, N.S., have stayed open this winter and say they're seeing an increase in visitors thanks in part to upgrades at Ski Cape Smokey.
