The Home Office has slowed down new salary threshold rules required for people to bring their family to the UK after a backlash.

James Cleverly told the Commons earlier this month that the threshold for a family visa would rise from £18,600 to £38,700 by next spring in a bid to reduce the number of people coming to the UK.

The UK government had planned to increase the threshold from £18,600 (€21,450) to £38,700 (€44,620).

The graduate route is attracting low-wage migrants, rather than “global talent”, according to the Migration Advisory Committee.
