MILTON Despite the death of a member last year, Sideline continues with a tour this year to honor its fallen member.

Darrell Webb, Steve Dilling, Skip Cherryholmes, and Jason Moore were founding members of this bluegrass band in 2012, and the latter three led the band until Jason’s untimely passing last 2021. Steve and Skip decided to continue on with Sideline in honor of the bassist and singer’s commitment to the band and love for the music. We look forward to welcoming them to a morning session with Martin on their way to shows in Elkin Friday night, and Floyd on Saturday.

With a brand new IBMA Instrumental Recording of the Year credit to their names, the first group of musicians to participate in the Mountain Home Music Company and Organic Records Bluegrass at the Crossroads collaborative series is back with the last of its efforts — this time, a contemplative, country-flavored excursion.

On the most celebratory night of a smaller-than-usual World of Bluegrass, in Raleigh, NC, the IBMA Thursday night crowned a new Entertainer of the Year and one of its youngest ever in bandleader and songwriter Billy Strings. The artist, who released his third album last Friday, also won Guitar Player of the Year for the second time in three years.
