WHILE war mongers in what looks like an elite club in high places are beating the drums of war, Professor Dr Lit Ying Loong, author and historian warns everyone never to forget the terror and barbaric acts of war, based on harrowing direct witness accounts in his book ‘ If the Sky Were to Fall.’
“Those who forget their history are condemned to repeat it,” he said, quoting philosopher George Santayana.
“We can forgive but must never forget the terror and atrocity of war such as the Japanese military occupation (Dec 1941- 45) and also the hardships for hundreds of thousands of ordinary civilian folks under the Malayan Emergency (1948-60) from the layman’s perspective.
