Minnesota's oldest resident celebrates her 113th birthday By Staff Report Text size Copy shortlink: Erna Zahn, Minnesota's oldest resident and among the 10 oldest people in the U.S., celebrated her 113th birthday Wednesday with a gathering at the Sleepy Eye Coffee Co. in the small Minnesota city about two hours southwest of Minneapolis. Zahn, who lives at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, Minn., was greeted by a display of photos from the early part of her life, above right, and friends and family members who hadn't been together for more than a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Miss Sleepy Eye Coronation will take place on Sunday, March 14

The Sleepy Eye Herald Dispatch The 74th Annual Miss Sleepy Eye Coronation will take place on Sunday, March 14. The Miss Sleepy Eye Ambassador Organization said due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, a limited number of tickets were pre-sold, and there will be no general admission at the door. Masks/face coverings are require for those who attend.  The crowning of the new Miss Sleepy Eye Royalty will be posted on the Miss Sleepy Eye Facebook page.  The candidates for Miss Sleepy Eye 2021 were asked why they are excited to be involved in the Miss Sleepy Eye program. CSAH 13 project bid summary approved | News, Sports, Jobs

fbusch@nujournal.com NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners approved a bid abstract summary for a concrete overlay project on CSAH 13 between Hanska and 220th Street, near New Ulm on Tuesday. Action came on a motion by Commissioner Scott Windschitl, seconded by Commissioner Jeff Veerkamp. Work is scheduled to begin on or before June 7 and take up to 60 working days to complete. Bids were opened Feb. 24. The project will be funded with federal, state aid and Local Option Sales Tax funds. The county highway department sent paperwork to the low bidder and Minnesota Civil Rights Office and waiting for approval of the low bidder’s DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) application and State Workforce Plan.
