Japan's Moon lander resumed operations on Sunday after it was reported to be in trouble on the lunar surface due to a lack of power.

After nine days of lunar darkness, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) recently announced that this tremendous endeavor was not in vain.

Technical setbacks threaten the SLIM mission despite breaking international records for pinpoint landing.

A mere four months after Japans first attempt to land on the moon ended in failure, the country quickly set its hopes on a second attempt. It launched SLIM — the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon — in September 2023.

The autonomous lunar rover that took the awe-inspiring image weighs only 250g, with a deployed width of about 123mm.
