Was released publicly. Broad public notification, yes. Notified about the malware and spend the next few days containing, disabling and removing the malware. January 10, we started notifying the public and customers directly. To both companies have policies in place on how you would do this consumer notification . We have several crisis communication plans and we enacted them immediately upon finding the crisis. Know, senatoryou leahy has a bill on some of these notification issues. I think some of the issues senator feinstein raised are worth discussing. We also have to realize that smaller retailers will have different situations than bigger retailers. We recently found out that hotel chains are being affected by this and were going to have to put something in place. Senator hatchhy, has asked to make a small statement before i recognize you. Thank you, senator. Came up todayt starts out by saying that u. S. Intelligence agencies will ask the Obama Administration to check the Governm

As we heard from some of the government speakers in terms of whether it is embraced or not we have seen a lot of companies talk about how they are applauding the release of the framework and that includes at t, the chairman spoke of the release at the white house, there is general support for the framework but as to whether that continues, will the framework be used as it was intended so it remained flexible non regulatory riskmanagement tool. If it continues down that path you will see fairly widespread use among the private sector. As for whether or not the framework is going to improve cybersecurity that is a harder question to answer. Clearly the framework is intended to raise the bar for cybersecurity to make it more difficult for attackers. That is something that would be helpful for mediumsized businesses, you may not have sophisticated capabilities today but we should probably clear any reasonable expectation cybersecurity is an ongoing issue that wont go away anytime soon so t
Declined because there is no clarity in that and that this cause problems at this particular juncture so these are two areas that the government is going to have to play a role. Chris what is your take on it and i guess particularly for the companies and the Smaller Companies in Midsize Companies the one that everyone agrees needs to kick up their game a notch and do they need some kind of incentive on the financial side or the really tangible site to make the improvements that we would like to see for overall cybersecurity . First i will speak from an at t perspective and then address the Smaller Companies but from my standpoint and you heard the chairman wednesday, its core to our business. The last thing an organization like ours wants to be is a victim of cyberattack so we are investing significantly in our cybersecurity capabilities and we believe we have a Robust Program in place today and we will be looking at the framework and evaluating how it can complement what we are doing.
Have ever had in history. My bankers have said this is a process we are usually zayne already utilizing. Which a lot of our institutions are already going through. One thing that will be helpful is to take that one step further and talk to our supply chain partners. Start. Em a place to a lot of times, it is difficult for companies that are less mature to know how to structure this. Let alone talk about it. The framework does talk about the outcomes. What needs to be done. But it does not specify how. It gives the flexibility for o evolve ands t innovate. The standards tend to be a little bit more focused. Does, as my colleague said, bridge the Technical Community who has been dealing with the standards with the Business Community that wants to know, and my secure enough . Are we detecting incidents . It provides a translation function between those two. I think it will be embraced. There are Critical Infrastructure organizations across all sectors that are doing good things today and
