Spotlight gets more powerful in iOS 15, even lets you install apps
With the upcoming release of iOS 15 for Apple mobile devices, Apple’s built-in search feature known as Spotlight will become a lot more functional. In what may be one of its bigger updates since it introducedSiri Suggestions, the new version of Spotlight is becoming an alternative to Google for several key queries, including web images and information about actors, musicians, TV shows and movies. It will also now be able to search across your photo library, deliver richer results for contacts, and connect you more directly with apps and the information they contain. It even allows you to install apps from the App Store without leaving Spotlight itself.

The tech battle between Apple and Fortnite -maker Epic Games has headed to court. On May 3, a judge began hearing arguments over whether Apple is running a monopoly in its App Store and whether it should be allowed to take a 30 percent cut of revenue from buys made using its in-app purchase system. The case could change the way we use our smartphones.

A: The trial started May 3 and is in its third week. It s estimated to end Monday or Tuesday. U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers is overseeing the case. It s being held in federal court in Oakland, just across the bay from San Francisco.

Apple’s top software engineer recently criticized the security of the company’s own Mac operating system while explaining why the company should not be forced to loosen its hold over iOS app distribution.
Bloomberg reports that Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi recently testified at a trial in federal court in Oakland, California, that his experience with malware viruses on MacOS systems showed that security would be eroded if the company allowed iPhone and iPad users to install software from independent sources.
