With cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant on the rise in Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh, the head of government and the Ministry of Health have urged caution and reminded people to practise preventive measures – particularly in markets.
The Ministry of Health on Friday reported 265 new Covid-19 cases, 18 of which were imported. It noted that all the cases were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.
The capital’s Daun Penh district administration has ordered its 11 communes to round up all homeless people and drug users to test them for Covid-19 to prevent the spread of the disease.
