District Updates
Last week was a week of celebration and appreciation. On Friday, May 7, 2021, it was School Lunch Hero Day. The CPS thanked its hard working, dedicated, amazing food service staff with flowers, cake, and a card full of thanks. These women have produced and served 1,198,500 meals since March of 2020. They are incredible and should be celebrated regularly.
•May 3-7 was Teacher Appreciation Week. The District and Schools found many ways to thank our amazing teachers, paras, and support staff. In celebration of Teacher’s Appreciation week, CPS’s friends at the Chelsea Kiwanis Club, in coordination with the Parent Liaisons & Buildings and Grounds, were very kind in sending Dunkin Donuts Coffee and Donuts to all the teachers at each of the nine schools. THANK YOU to Renee Griffin and her awesome staff at the Chelsea Dunkin Donuts on Everett Ave. for all of their help coordinating this. District Updates
•Chelsea Public Schools welcomed back some of it’s Pre-K-12 students this week. Thank you to CHS Alum Roberto Soto from Day Twenty-six Events for helping bring that welcome back cheer for our faculty/staff and students at the ELC, Mary C. Burke Complex and Chelsea Opportunity Academy.
•This year has been one of uncertainty, transition, and growth for all of us. As we continue to navigate all of these changes, the need to take time and engage in our own self-care and wellness is even more important. Throughout this Spring, CPS has dedicated the second and fourth Wednesdays as Wellness Wednesdays. From 3-4 p.m. on these Wednesdays, there will be 3-4 different activities led by some of our amazingly talented colleagues to promote wellness, laugh, and build a stronger CPS community. Please take advantage of these opportunities both to engage in your own self-care and to connect/reconnect with other members of the community. Specific details will follo

•The Chelsea SEPAC had a great presentation hosted by Laura Perez from MAC, families learned about the process of ‘Understanding the IEP’, two parents joined the SEPAC Officials during this learning session, Officials hope to welcome more families in future meetings. •On Friday, March 26, educators, students, community organizers, and individuals across the country will celebrate the annual Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day. This year’s theme: ‘Building Bonds, Reimagining Communities’ recognizes and reinforces the ways in which individuals, schools, and communities have used social emotional skills to remain connected and engaged during the pandemic.
