For the commissioners, Tuesdayâs announcement is an opportunity to bolster the local economy.
âIt was eye-opening to see those applications and to see where the need was the greatest,â Commissioner Gerald Walker said. âWe hope this will allow them to keep operating.â
The businesses include tattoo shops, tanning salons and masons, among a long list of other trades. More than 275 businesses submitted applications, according to a press release on the program from the commissioners.
Grants range between $1,000 and $25,000. Amounts were determined by the amount of pandemic-related loss at the business, Commissioner Colleen Dawson said. The county worked with nonprofit The Progress Fund, of Greensburg, to administer the program.
