I am moved by some of my research, especially the most recent report on the United States epidemic of loneliness and isolation, written in 2023, by Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, surgeon general of the United States. His report made sense due to the state of the world right now. Our communities could be a scary place, especially with the division and rising levels of antisemitism and hate crimes in general. If someone is isolated and lonely, venturing out into the community could be terrifying.
