A free, surprisingly good-feeling Sonic game can't go amiss with fans in need of tiding over, but some underwhelming progression holds it back.

Yuji Naka says he was removed from the development of Balan Wonderworld, and sued Square Enix over his removal. The former Sonic Team head apologized to fans for the "unfinished" nature of Balan Wonderworld.

The Balan Wonderworld director reportedly took legal action against Square Enix over releasing the game in an unfinished state.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on Sega Genesis, loop-the-loops were a genuine game changer, showcasing new, more exciting physics in video games.
