Belarus maintains international cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation in bilateral and multilateral formats. Belarus and the IAEA signed a cooperation framework until 2027.
Stanislav Levitsky said: “The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the state corporation Rosatom are discussing the construction of a nuclear research reactor based on the united energy and nuclear research institute Sosny."
Stanislav Levitsky said: “In my opinion, any country, which views itself as a nuclear industry flagship, needs a research reactor. The reactor we offer can be used to make medical isotopes and for materials science purposes."
Mikhail Zhemzhurov also remarked that Belarusian scientists work in accordance with government programs on scientific studies in the sphere of nuclear technologies, tangible results have already been produced in various areas.
“You know that on 2 June the Belarusian nuclear power plant was granted a license to operate its first power unit. Our country has transformed in a sense and received a new status. Earlier we were a newcomer in this industry, while now we are a country operating a nuclear power plant,” Olga Lugovskaya said.
