SafeSource Direct building PPE plants in Broussard, creating new jobs

SafeSource Direct, a company producing personal protective equipment, announced Monday that it would be building two plants in Broussard. The announcement came as local economic development officials, state leaders, health care leaders and others gathered at the company’s future nitrile plant at 142 Lake Talon Road in Broussard, falling in St. Martin Parish. The second facility will be at 200 St. Nazaire Road in Broussard in Lafayette Parish. “Today’s announcement is not only a celebration of the new jobs SafeSource Direct will create and the economic activity it will generate, but also an opportunity to thank Ochsner and Trax for an investment that truly meets our novel moment,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said.

Personal Protective Equipment facility coming to Broussard and last updated 2021-05-03 14:11:06-04 Two new PPE manufacturing facilities are planned for the Broussard area, and they re expected to create 2,200 new jobs, officials say. Gov. John Bel Edwards joined Ochsner Health President and CEO Warner Thomas, SafeSource Direct CEO Justin Hollingsworth and other officials announces the development of two manufacturing facilities for personal protective equipment, or PPE. Economic Development officials say the projects will create a combined 1,221 new direct jobs, and Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in a combined 992 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 2,200 new jobs.
