Residents of Marion County can properly dispose of household hazardous waste, free of charge, in Pella this weekend. A collection event will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. at the Pella Public Works Complex on 100 Truman Road.
Accepted items include: household chemicals, aerosol cleaners and paints, ammonia-based cleaners, antifreeze, rechargeable batteries, fertilizers, fluorescent light bulbs, gasoline, kerosene, oil-based paints, lead based paints, stains, varnishes, metal polishes, rust removers, mercury thermometers and thermostats, pesticides, petroleum adhesives, and used oil filters.
Items not accepted include: latex paint, ammunition, asbestos, electronics, explosives, fire extinguishers, medications, propane tanks and cylinders, and radioactive materials.
