Fires in Humboldt County largely impacting the Hoopa and Orleans areas are in various stages of containment ranging from completely contained, to almost, to not very.

Fires from the Six Rivers Forest Lightning Complex, which ignited Aug. 15 following a lightning storm, have created warnings for roughly 243 residents around the Orleans area as of the Times-Standard’s print deadline, but some of the warnings should cease very soon.

East of Crescent City and Eureka, fires that started roughly three weeks ago continue to sear Northern California into September, authorities said.

One person was killed in a fire at Klamath National Forest in Siskiyou County.

The Golden Fire, which was sparked Sunday along Highway 101 between Ukiah and Willits, is expected to be fully contained by Friday, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported.

While drift smoke was expected to blanket much of the Ukiah Valley on Wednesday and Thursday, by Friday a few rain showers could wash some of the haze away, the National Weather Service reported.
