Sherpa trust work fills void left by 2011 Christchurch quake tragedy

JOHN BISSET/Stuff Marg Stocker says her work for the Forgotten Sherpa Nepal Trust has helped her cope with death of her husband, Neil, in the February 2011 Christchurch quake. The anniversary of the horrific Christchurch earthquake of February 22, 2011, has always been a traumatic day for Marg Stocker. The Temuka woman lost her husband Neil Stocker who died while removing a damaged organ from the Durham St Methodist Church when the 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck. February 22, her birthday, has remained a day of mixed emotions, with the tragedy never far from her mind. “I live with it every day. Over the years the rawness has softened, but it’s always there.

ALDEN WILLIAMS/Stuff Organ retrieval – A delicate salvage operation is underway to rescue the Christchurch Catholic Cathedral’s organ. Rain had been kept off the 10m high organ because the roof above it had remained whole, he said.
