Trey Cunningham Takes Center Stage at The Bowerman Ceremony

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Former Florida State hurdler Trey Cunningham will look to make one final impact on collegiate track and field on Thursday night as he looks to become the second Seminole to win The Bowerman, collegiate track and field's most prestigious individual award. The ceremony will take place at 9 p.m. eastern inside the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colo. Fans can watch the ceremony on USTFCCCA's YouTube page. Cunningham is one of three male finalists joining Randolph Ross (North Carolina A&T) and Ayden Owens-Delerme (Arkansas). Ngoni Makusha won the award for the Seminoles in 2011. Cunningham Wins South Region Athlete of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Trey Cunningham picked up another award on Thursday afternoon, as he was named the Men's South Region Track Athlete of the Year. Cunningham won the award in the indoor season but becomes just the third Seminole to win the award during the outdoor season joining Maurice Mitchell (2012) and Walter Dix (2007). Cunningham put together one of the greatest seasons in NCAA hurdle history during his 2022 campaign. Cunningham went undefeated during his season that was capped off with a national title in the 110m hurdles. In the championship race, Cunningham ran 13.00, tied for the second-fastest race in NCAA history, to become one of four athletes to run 13.00 or faster. In his 10 races this season, Cunningham ran 13.22 or faster nine times which has never been done in NCAA history. The Winfield, Ala., native is now tied for 23rd all-time on the world list. March 4, 2021 - by Jodie Judd Cunningham and Coach Phillips Win South Region Awards TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior Trey Cunningham was selected U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year this Thursday. He is joined by South Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year, Kelly Phillips. These awards are voted on by USTFCCCA member coaches and honor coaches and athletes from each of the nine regions. “Trey is certainly deserving as the South Region Track Athlete of the Year,” said Head Coach Bob Braman. “He’s been the dominant track athlete in the region this entire year.”
