East Rutherford NJ crash closes Rt 3 eastbound lanes

View Comments A two-car crash on Route 3 eastbound in East Rutherford sent three people to the hospital with significant injuries, police said on Thursday. One driver had a fractured skull while a passenger had a fractured leg that needed surgery, but Deputy Chief Phillip Taormina said the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The other driver had minor neck and back injuries, Taormina said. The two cars crashed at about 6 p.m. and one vehicle skidded off the highway and into a pole, the deputy chief said.  No charges had been filed as of Friday though the crash remains under investigation, Taormina said.

All three taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after a medical chopper that was placed on standby was cancelled. Two lanes of eastbound Route 3 along with the ramp to the South Service Road were expected to remain closed for some time while the wreckage was cleared and authorities investigated,

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - The attorney for the family of a teen shot and killed by a Cobb County police officer last summer said he plans to file a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the county. Attorney Gerald Griggs represents the family of 17-year-old Vincent Truitt. Griggs said he plans to formally announce a $50 million lawsuit on Friday morning, one of the largest lawsuits in a police shooting case. The teen was shot during the investigation of a stolen car near the intersection of South Service Road and Riverside Parkway on July 13, 2020. The Cobb County Police Department said officers spotted a car with three men inside and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The car sped off and struck a police cruiser while attempting to escape, police added.
