16 Regional Teams Identified for Rural Resiliency and Recovery Roadmaps | Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade

DENVER, June 10, 2021 The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) have announced 16 regional teams, representing 169 rural communities, as participants in the Colorado Rural Resiliency and Recovery Roadmap program.

OJC president Alvarez named to El Pomar Southeast Council

LA Junta Tribune Otero Junior College president Timothy Alvarez has been named to the Southeast Regional Council of the El Pomar Partnerships Program. I am humbled and honored to support the El Pomar Foundation, Alvarez said. The purpose of the foundation to enhance, encourage, and promote the current and future well-being of the people of Colorado really resonates with me. I am delighted to play a positive role in being a voice for our rural communities. Alvarez has been selected to a three-year term on the Southeast Council, which currently is comprised of 11 members. According to its website, the Council has focused on funneling its efforts into emergent needs especially to the communities who have been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the past year.

Granada Trustees Receive Update on Packing Plant : The Prowers Journal

  Curtis Tempel and Clint States provided updated information for the Granada Trustees on their plans to construct a packing plant west of the community, beginning sometime later this year. Tempel laid out his initial plans to the Trustees last year and secured the property adjacent to Camp Amache, west of Granada, off Highway 50. Tempel said, “We’ve been working through the past year and we’ve gotten up to a lot of final stages at this point to move the project forward.” Some of the next steps involve getting a determination of the ground composition where a pad for the 15,000 square foot building will be located. Some other factors include the location for a fire hydrant, placement of a water line, a sewer line and probably putting electrical conduit at least five feet underground.
