Sheriff s Office investigating suspicious cattle deaths
First cases of mutilated cattle began in early March on very rural Paulina land
Beginning the first week of March, the Crook County Sheriff s Office investigated multiple suspicious cattle deaths in eastern and southern portions of Crook County.
The first cases began at the 96 Ranch on Southeast Van Lake Road between February and March. This area and the areas where cattle have been found is very rural ranch land, as well as public BLM land.
Undersheriff James Savage reported that the cause of these cattle deaths was not natural and are under investigation. The sheriff s office would like to encourage Stockgrowers to be vigilant in checking on their animals and to report any suspicious activity to them. The sheriff s office will be providing extra patrols to the rural portions of the county in an attempt to locate who is responsible.
