BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Dawson Odums and his Southern football team have two weeks to get ready for their road trip to Texas Southern while stewing over losing their only home game of the season before they head out on the road again.

Odums is figuring out who will start at quarterback after pulling Ladarius Skelton in the second quarter against UAPB for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, leaving John Lampley to take over from there.
Southern football’s last and first home game is the same game this spring season when the Jags welcome Arkansas-Pine Bluff to The Bluff on Saturday, March 6.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WAFB) - The SWAC released a revised preseason All-SWAC team on Tuesday, Feb. 23, for the 2021 spring football season and the list now includes one more Jaguar.

Southern senior quarterback Ladarius Skelton has been named to the second team. Eight other players throughout the league who were not initially on the All-SWAC team have now been added.
In the initial release, senior running back Devon Benn and senior offensive guard Johnathan Bishop were both named to the first team.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Southern head coach Dawson Odums said one of the question marks this season is wide receiver.
The Jaguars were already missing last yearâs leader Hunter Register and Timothy Bedford, who left the team, and now, the third-leading receiver from last season will also be unavailable.
SU wide receivers need next man up mentality
Odums said junior Jamar Washington is out for the spring season due to a foot injury. Washington had been dealing with the injury for some time and aggravated it during a recent practice. Odums added surgery is required, which might put Washingtonâs status for the fall in doubt. The Alexandria native totaled 341 yards and two touchdowns in 2019.
