Rights17 hours ago Mumbai: As the second wave of COVID-19 ravages Delhi, the situation of prisons in the city is dire with little to no scope to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. In order to mitigate the situation, a group of senior human rights lawyers, activists and medical practitioners have written to the Supreme Court elected High Power Committee (HPC) in Delhi requesting the decongestion of prisons. In a representation made by advocates Vrinda Grover and Soutik Banerjee, academic Pratiksha Baxi, and public health activist Sarojini Nadimpally, the HPC has been notified about the exponential rise in cases inside prisons of Delhi.

File photo New Delhi, April 15 The Delhi High Court Thursday granted time to the family of a 25-year-old farmer, who died after his tractor overturned during the farmers’ protest rally on the Republic Day, to seek opinion of experts on his post mortem and X-Ray reports. Justice Yogesh Khanna also asked the Delhi Police to allow the family to view the CCTV footage of the spot where the incident took place, whenever they want to. The court listed the matter for further hearing on July 26.

Delhi Police directed not to take action against Shubham Kar Chaudhary till March 15 ANI | Updated: Mar 12, 2021 11:37 IST New Delhi [India], March 12 (ANI): A Delhi Court on Friday directed the Delhi Police not to take any coercive action against climate activist Shubham Kar Chaudhari till March 15. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana of Patiala House Court adjourned the hearing on Chaudhari s anticipatory bail plea till March 15. Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed told the Court that the matter of the co-accused is coming up on March 15, where the Court is scheduled to hear the anticipatory bail plea of Shantanu Muluk and Nikita Jacob. Both of them have been granted interim protection from arrest till March 15 by the Delhi Court.
