Two weeks ago, we spent three days hiking on the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) north of Duluth. We camped at Gooseberry Falls with trail buddies from North Dakota. Unofficially, the SHT has been a part of the North Country Trail (NCT) for many years. Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors made the announcement yesterday afternoon that they would be opening up the lighthouse and keepers home to tours beginning as soon as Memorial Day weekend, which would end indoor restrictions placed on the historic site since COVID-19 hit Minnesota in 2020. Fans of Split Rock Lighthouse will soon be able to get the full tour experience once again. The Minnesota Historical Society, who operates the lighthouse, announced on Facebook that they will be opening all of the buildings again for general admission tours soon. MNHS is working on plans to open the Alexander Ramsey House, Folsom House, Harkin Store, Lower Sioux Agency, Mill City Museum and Minnehaha Depot, a release said.
