As Canadians cheer on the country’s Olympians at the Tokyo Games over the next few weeks, there’s more the federal government could be doing off the field of play to help Team Canada succeed.
The federal government could boost funding through Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program (AAP), which is a “lifeline” for many athletes, said Liberal MP and former Olympian, Adam van Koeverden, who’s also parliamentary secretary to the minister of Heritage.
Sport Canada is a branch of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
