Resistance hotbeds Sagaing and Magway may now be under a new form of Myanmar junta pressure, if the allegations of controls on migrant garment workers taking up employment in Yangon are true.

On 8 August, the 34th anniversary of the 8888 pro-democracy uprising, a protest calling for the removal of the Myanmar military junta and support for the Kachin Liberation Army (KIA), People’s Defense Force (PDF), and National Unity Government (NUG) took place in Kachin's Hpakan Township.

At the 10th meeting of members of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at the United Nations Headquarters, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative U Kyaw Moe Tun called on the international community to monitor the military junta so it does not destroy the efforts made by the previous civilian government to support the abolition of nuclear weapons.

176 students' unions from across Myanmar made a statement on 25 July urging people to reject any negotiations with the Military Council.

Instead of the NUG’s regular meeting, an emergency meeting was conducted on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, it was joined by the NUG Acting President, Union Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Secretaries.

In the ceremony on the 75th Martyrs’ Day, the NUG Acting President urged the public to nurture brave hearts to liberate them from the slavery of the military junta while paying tribute to General Aung San and other martyrs.

The Basic Education Worker Unions - Steering Committee (BEWU-SC) and the Basic Education General Strike Committee-BEGSC jointly announced on 16 July that they will respond to the military regime’s arrest of teachers taking part in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) teaching at National Unity Government (NUG) schools.

On the 75th anniversary of the Martyrs’ Day, the Committee Representing the Pyutaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the National Unity Government (NUG) will jointly organize an event at 9:30 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, it will be broadcast live on the social media pages of CRPH, NUG, PVTV and Radio NUG.
