NEWTON Benny s Bodega, a nonprofit organization that provides food and other necessary items to residents in need, celebrated the grand opening of its new location on Spring Street Thursday morning.
Founders Ben and Heather Davey marked the occasion with a toast to about a dozen volunteers and board members who helped facilitate the Bodega s move from its prior home in Andover Borough. The couple expressed their gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the organization s collection and distribution of food, clothing, hygiene products and toys. Thank you for supporting us, thank you for being there for us, and hopefully you feel as proud as we do today of what we ve accomplished, Ben Davey said to the group. And I say we because it really is a we thing. This isn t a Heather and I thing, this isn t (an) our family thing. This is all of us coming together to do something special, and I just wanted to thank you for that.
